Honda Center California Guide

Honda Center California is an exclusive sports venue and entertainment center in Anaheim, California. The venue is home to the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL and a premium live entertainment hub of Orange County, drawing capacity crowds for events such as UFC and concerts of A-list musicians such as The Rolling Stones, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, and many others.

Honda Center Anaheim was built in 1993 and has since hosted over 4,000 events, with more than 42 million visitors witnessing some of the greatest sports moments. This includes Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final where the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Ottawa Senators to become the first team from California to clinch the lofty title.

Should you consider backing the Anaheim Ducks in another title campaign by betting a few bucks, you’ll have to go to neighboring Arizona or Nevada. Californians overwhelmingly rejected both Proposition 26 and Proposition 27, thus putting a definite stop to legal sports betting in the Golden State for the time being. Not even the $460 million raised and spent in efforts to expand sports betting in the state could help the supporters of these bills.

However, one thing is certain: this is not the end of the story. Gaming companies and tribal casinos surely won’t give up on their respective propositions. They might even get Californians to polling stations sooner than one can expect, something the voters are relatively accustomed to. Just look at the measure that aimed to alter dialysis clinic regulations, which got voted down for the third time.

In the meantime, you can always catch a game at Honda Center or attend a concert or show, in which case our guide will prove invaluable to you and answer burning questions such as:

  • Where is the Honda Center?
  • What is the venue’s history, seating capacity, parking, and features?

About Honda Center Anaheim

Honda Center encompasses some 650,000 square feet of space in Southeast Anaheim, a two-minute drive from Angel Stadium of Anaheim and a seven-minute drive from Disney California Adventure Park.

“Where is the Honda Center Anaheim?” is the most common question asked by visitors, especially those unfamiliar with the LA Metro area. You can type the following address into a navigation app, such as Google Maps, for clear instructions on how to get there:

  • 2695 East Katella, Anaheim, CA  92806

Several transportation options are available for visitors, including the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (aka ARTIC), which is located across the street from Honda Center. Uber and Lyft drop-off and pick-up areas are available across the street for all those who prefer rideshare services.

Anaheim Ducks Stadium History and Ownership Structure

Honda Center was a $123 million construction project finalized on June 17, 1993, when it opened under the name Anaheim Arena. The owner of the arena is the city of Anaheim which also provided the funding for the project.

That same year, the venue changed its name to Arrowhead Pond and hosted the first game of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, named after Disney’s The Mighty Ducks movies.

The management and ownership of Henry and Susan Samueli ushered in a new era for both the team and the venue in 2005. In 2006, Honda bought the naming rights for the property for around $60 million and changed it to Honda Center. When the team was eventually sold by the Walt Disney Company, it also changed its name to the current one: Anaheim Ducks.

Honda Center’s single largest renovation project saw the construction of a $20 million Grand Terrace, now rebranded to Brewery X Biergarten. The upgrade brought 15,000 square feet of entertainment space, a 250-seat full-service restaurant, an 80-foot bar and multimedia platform, and an Anaheim Ducks team store.

In 2020, the Anaheim Ducks and Anaheim Arena Management (AAM) signed a ten-year extension deal with Honda for arena naming rights.

Honda Center Capacity and Features

The Honda Center’s capacity is 17,174 seats for hockey fixtures. That number can be extended to 18,900 visitors for concerts and live shows. Besides the standard seating capacity, there are also 83 suites on the premises.

Refer to the seating map on the venue’s official website for a full Honda Center seating chart and purchase inquiries.

Honda Center also has an impressive number of concessions on the premises strategically placed across the Plaza, Club, and Terrace levels, as well as the Puck Drop Patio. A premium dining experience awaits at Brewery X Biergarten. During regular season Anaheim Ducks games, Brewery X Biergarten is only available to Brewery X Biergarten annual pass holders and those fans who purchase single-game passes.

Private restaurants and clubs like The Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Club and Impact Club are open to premium seatholders and VIPs.

Sports Betting at Honda Center

At this point, a sportsbook at Honda Center seems less likely than ever. Namely, with voters rejecting both measures to legalize sports betting in California in a November ballot, it looks like professional sports venues are far from getting the green light from legislators to open sports betting lounges on the premises.

In fact, even if Proposition 26 had received the voters’ support, it’d have only brought retail sportsbooks in CA to tribal casinos and four racetracks, not sports venues.

Still, should the legislators assume a different approach to sports betting propositions and back sports betting at sports venues, gambling at Honda Center may very well become a reality.

Honda Center Parking

“Where can I park at Honda Center?” is one of the most common questions visitors ask. Although the event center encourages people to consider biking, walking, or taking public transit, Honda Center offers 3,500 spots on seven lots surrounding the building.

In Sept. 2022, Honda Center teamed up with ParkMobile, one of the leading parking apps in North America to provide a better experience by allowing visitors to reserve parking in advance. The feature guarantees a Honda Center parking spot, leaving you to focus on the event ahead.

The general parking fee for Ducks games is $20, while it’s $25 for concerts and special events. The price can vary depending on your vehicle size or preferred parking location requirements. Tailgating is prohibited in the parking lot.

Honda Center Online Sportsbook

Should Proposition 27 be revisited, legal sports betting apps in California may become a reality. However, unless the bill is changed to allow sporting venues to launch betting apps and online sportsbooks, Honda Center won’t be able to offer betting.
