Yaamava’ Resort & Casino had a guest win an eye-popping payout during a game of high-limit Blazing 7s on Tuesday.

The California Indian casino located in Highland, California, tweeted that a rewards club member named Luis was dealt three 7s of diamonds and won a whopping $269,523.

Blazing 7s is a version of blackjack in which players’ winnings are multiplied based on the number and suit of any 7s in their first three cards. Getting dealt three 7s of diamonds gives the player the maximum prize. Getting dealt three 7s of the same suit other than diamonds gives the second-highest prize, and getting dealt three 7s of the same color gives the third-highest prize. Then, players also get prizes for three 7s of mixed suits, two 7s in their first two cards, and one 7 in their first two cards.

What are the odds of getting three 7s of diamonds in your first three cards? Just 0.000004% — or 4-in-100,000,000.

For comparison, you have a much, much higher chance of getting struck by lightning in your lifetime: 1-in-15,300, according to the National Weather Service. Luis’ achievement at Yaamava’ Resort and Casino is about 1/3 as rare as winning the Mega Millions, which the company claims is 1-in-303,000,000 odds.

Yaamava’ has other high-limit options, including high-limit slots and various other high-limit table games.

Formerly San Manuel Casino, Yaamava’ Resort and Casino rebranded in September 2021. Owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Yaamava’ is the largest casino in California and the West Coast. It has 6,500 slot machines, 135 table games, 38 poker tables, five high-limit rooms, a 121,300-square-foot gaming floor, eight bars, eight restaurants, an attached hotel, and a theater.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians’ gaming endeavors started in 1986, when it opened a bingo hall called San Manuel Indian Bingo. It then expanded to a 100,000-square-foot casino in 1994. In 2017, the bingo portion of the casino closed, with all focus being dedicated toward the casino and expansion that has led to what Yaamava’ Resort and Casino is today.
