Commerce Casino is set to host the 2022 LA Poker Open on Nov. 4-20, and the event will showcase a Main Event offering $200,000 in guaranteed prize money.
The LA Poker Open, one of the premier California poker tournaments, offers a full slate of competition before the Main Event. There’s plenty of poker action and money on the line prior to that, starting with a $250 no-limit Texas hold’em event on Nov. 4-5 that offers $50,000 in guaranteed money. Players will begin with 40,000 starting chips.
The no-limit hold’em Big 50 will be contested from Nov. 7-12, featuring a $100,000 purse and a $1,000 double bag bonus. The Razz portion of the contest will take place on Nov. 8. The lowest hand wins in this variation of seven-card stud, and the the best ace-to-five low hand takes the pot.

The first of seven Mega Satellite events comes on Nov. 13. These contests have a buy-in of $200 and allow for possible entry into the Main Event. Play is conducted under a one-and-done format. Chip leaders will be removed from play at predetermined points in the contest and awarded their seat in the Main Event.
The Omaha 8-Stud 8 contest is a one-day event that will take place on Nov. 14, featuring a buy-in of $400. Omaha is a variation of Texas hold’em. The best five-card hand comes from a combination of hole cards and community cards. Players are required to use two of the cards they’re dealt and three community cards.
All of the poker action leads up to the Main Event, which starts at noon on Nov. 16. Eligible players will compete for $200,000 in guaranteed prize money after a buy-in of $1,100. Players will have 30,000 starting chips. The LA Poker Open’s Main Event winner will be determined after the last day of this four-day session on Nov. 19.

Final Event of Commerce Casino Poker Tournament Series
The LA Poker Open is the final event of Commerce Casino’s Poker Tournament Series, which started with the LA Poker Classic in January. The California State Poker Championship and Commerce Hold’Em Series took place between these bookend events.
Huy Lam won the LA Poker Classic Main Event to start the year and took home $300,280 in prize winnings. Runner-up Jayakrishnan Nair ($200,180) and third-place finisher David Gonzalez ($134,990) rounded out the list of six-figure winners.
