QB: Carson Wentz ($5,800) at Detroit Lions

Wentz offers some upside while providing savings. It’s fair to pick on the Detroit Lions, who surrendered 455 yards and 38 points last week against the Eagles. Sunday’s matchup projects to have a healthy amount of scoring, setting the stage for Wentz to claim DraftKings’ bonus for eclipsing 300 passing yards.

RB: Javonte Williams ($6,500) vs. Houston Texans

Williams looked great running the ball for the Denver Broncos on Monday, but it’s his team-leading 12 targets that stand out. The Broncos turned a presumptive win into a tally in the loss column, and first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett won’t have the luxury of not deploying his best players in the biggest moments this Sunday.

RB: Cam Akers ($5,600) vs. Atlanta Falcons

Head coach Sean McVay offered a public challenge to Akers. Our gamble is that Akers heard him loud and clear. A focused and ornery Akers could do damage with the type of volume the Rams’ lead back often receives. He’s unlikely to be a popular lineup choice after he crashed and burned in Week 1.

WR: Michael Pittman Jr. ($6,700) at Jacksonville Jaguars

Sunday isn’t a ‘must-win’ situation for the Colts, but it’s a division matchup, and the frustration of last week’s tie lingers as a missed opportunity. Pittman accounted for 13 of the team’s 49 targets, and another large share of the passing game is in the cards.

WR: Terry McLaurin ($6,600) at Detroit Lions

We’re pairing Wentz with his top receiving target — at least on paper. McLaurin scored a touchdown in the opener, but he only drew four targets. It’s difficult to imagine him not receiving more attention in what could be a high-scoring Week 2 showdown.

WR: D.J. Moore ($5,700) at New York Giants

Moore is a cost-saving play, but he’s much more than a dart throw. There wasn’t a large serving of targets for Panthers pass-catchers in Week 1, but Moore has operated as the high-volume receiver for the Panthers, and he’s demonstrated the traits of an elite playmaker. In a one-off game, Moore is capable of delivering stellar value.

TE: Kyle Pitts ($5,400) at Los Angeles Rams

Get used to seeing Pitts included in these lineups for as long as he’s reasonably priced. Sometimes you have to tip your cap to opening-week oddities and be willing to go back to the well. Pitts is simply too talented and physically gifted to shy away from his game-breaking ability.

FLEX: Rashaad Penny ($5,400) at San Francisco 49ers

Penny wasn’t overly impressive for the Seahawks on Monday night as he only received 14 touches. But he averaged 5.0 yards per carry, accounted for 12 of the team’s 13 running back carries (Geno Smith collected six totes), and served a role in the passing game. They won’t have their boisterous crowd behind them, but they were respectable enough offensively against a tough defense to offer modest encouragement.

D/ST: Bengals ($2,200) at Dallas Cowboys

This is a logical option, so don’t be surprised if the Bengals are a relatively popular choice. Don’t sweat it though. Why wouldn’t you pick on a team playing its backup quarterback behind a decimated offensive line? It’s a situation that asks for turnovers and fantasy points.
