We are mere days away from the kickoff of Super Bowl 57 between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

Californians can’t use well-known sportsbooks like DraftKings, FanDuel, or BetMGM to place real-money bets on the Super Bowl. However, California residents can legally get in on the action in different ways.

Enter Super Bowl Daily Fantasy Contests
For folks involved in the world of DFS in California, the Super Bowl is a significant opportunity for one last payday before the NFL offseason. It can feel like forever until preseason comes back around in August, so the top daily fantasy apps like DraftKings DFS, FanDuel DFS, Monkey Knife Fight, or Jock MKT have plenty of options for players to end the season on a high note.
The longest-running Super Bowl DFS contest is DraftKings’ Super Bowl Showdown, which is in its fifth year. You pick your lineups and compete in a cash prize pool of $6 million. Each entry will cost you $15.
You choose one captain and five FLEX players while staying under the $50,000 salary cap. Pick from a player pool of QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks, and DSTs.
Your captain will cost 1.5 times his standard salary. However, he will also score 1.5 times his standard fantasy points.

DFS Players to Watch in Super Bowl 57
Super Bowl LVII will feature an exciting matchup of two outstanding teams. Both teams have high-powered offenses led by young star QBs. At the same time, both teams also feature opportunistic defenses with players that are used to making big plays in big games. When filling out your DFS roster, here are some players you’ll want to look at.
Patrick Mahomes is the best QB in the game today.
Period, new sentence.
If you are selecting a DFS QB for the Super Bowl, Jalen Hurts is the way to go. He will likely be more expensive than Mahomes, and they average the same amount of PPG on most DFS sites. But the added value that Hurts adds as a runner should put this over the top.
Some matchups will allow you to select both QBs. However, if you go that direction, you’ll be taking a bunch of flyers on touchdown-dependent players.
The next player on this list is Travis Kelce. He will also cost a big chunk of your DFS salary cap. However, he is a near guarantee to score big in this game. Kelce has 127 catches for 1,467 yards and scored 15 touchdowns in 17 playoff games.
The Chiefs wide receiver room is a huge question mark. Kadarius Toney and JuJu Smith-Schuster are both nursing injuries but hope to play. So keep your eyes on Marcus Valses-Scantling. MVS is averaging 61 receiving yards per game in these playoffs to go along with two touchdowns. He could become a go-to target for Mahomes if the Eagles’ defense keys in on Kelce.
If you are looking for bargain bin additions to your roster, look no further than the Eagles’ running backs. Expect a combination of three guys in the Eagles’ backfield. Of the three, Keith Gainwell intrigues me the most. Gainwell has proven to have a nose for the endzone and he will be reasonably cheap across most DFS sites.
Lastly, if you are in a league that requires you to add a defense, the Eagles defense is the one you should look to. Statistically, Mahomes has struggled in the Super Bowl. He has a passer rating of 64.2 with 556 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions in two Super Bowls in his career. The Eagles also led the league in sacks this season by a wide margin.
Expect Mahomes to be under pressure most of the game and I’d predict he will commit at least one turnover.
