A premier Southern California Indian casino will gain national recognition by sponsoring a PGA event through 2028.

The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians has agreed to become the official tribal casino and hotel sponsor of the PGA Tour’s American Express Golf Tournament. Through this partnership, the tribe’s main casino, Spotlight 29 Casino, will have its logo prominently displayed across all volunteer platforms.

“This event has always been a community-driven tournament, and we feel fortunate to be able to help support the more than 1,200 volunteers who make the week run smoothly,” Darrell Mike, Chair of Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to be able to be a part of this time-honoured tradition.”

The American Express Golf Tournament will take place Jan. 16-22 at PGA WEST’s Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament Courses and La Quinta Country Club in La Quinta, California. The first round of golf begins Jan. 19. It will feature some of the biggest names in golf, including Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Scottie Scheffler.

The purse for The American Express Golf Tournament is $8 million. That’s right around the middle of the pack in terms of purses for PGA Tour events.

Beyond golf action, there will also be concerts at the tournament with Gwen Stefani and Darius Rucker on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, respectively.
