Chase Center is a brand new, $1.4 million sports arena in the Mission Bay area of downtown San Francisco. Since 2019, it has been the home of the Golden State Warriors, the 2022 NBA Champions.
One of Chase Center’s most prominent features called Thrive City is located outside the complex. The 3.2-acre exterior plaza features a huge jumbotron offering great views of the Warriors home and away games. This outdoor gathering space also hosts community-like activities and entertainment shows during the offseason.
It won’t be a site for legal California sports betting for now, though, as voters rejected both Prop 26 and Prop 27 in the November 2022 election. That means sportsbooks won’t launch in California until 2025 at the earliest.
That said, CA venues and stadiums like Chase Center may be able to open retail sportsbooks when that time comes.

Brief History of Chase Center San Francisco
The construction of the Chase Center was announced in 2014. Two years later, the New York-based bank JP Morgan acquired the naming rights for a 20-year term. The deal was worth a reported $300 million.
With the city of San Francisco refusing to finance the project, the Warriors had to fund it out of their own pockets for an estimated $1.4 billion. Construction of the privately-financed arena began in Jan. 2017 with Mortenson/Clark as the contractor.
Construction of the complex was completed on schedule and was opened to the public on Sept. 6, 2019. Metallica performed at the grand opening show alongside the San Francisco Symphony.
