Crypto.com Arena is a sports and entertainment venue located in downtown Los Angeles, around 14 miles from the city’s international airport (LAX). It’s part of the LA Live entertainment complex owned and operated by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). Crpyto.com Arena was formerly known as the Staples Center.

Crypto.com Arena opened its doors in 1999 under the name Staples Center. It’s currently home to four sports teams: the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, and the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.

Over the years, the venue has hosted many sporting, entertainment, and music events. The arena will be one of the participating venues in the 2028 Summer Olympics, hosting the basketball tournament.

Crypto.com Arena doesn’t currently feature a California sportsbook. The state of California is making slow progress toward legalizing land-based sports betting, so we may expect nearby casinos to start operating California sportsbooks by 2025.

Crypto.com Arena is owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group, one of the US’s most prominent music entertainment and sporting presenters. The arena was opened on Oct. 17, 1999. It was initially named Staples Center because Staples, Inc., a notable office-supply company, bought the naming rights.

The name remained unchanged until Crypto.com, a global cryptocurrency exchange from Singapore, signed a 20-year naming rights deal with AEG for $700 million. The renaming became official on Dec. 25, 2021, the same day the Lakers played their Christmas Day Game at the venue.

The arena is currently home ground to four massive sporting franchises:

• The Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA
• The Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA
• The Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA
• The Los Angeles Kings of the NHL

In addition to notable hockey and basketball events, Crypto.com has hosted Grammy Award shows, US Figure Skating Championships, the Michael Jackson Public Memorial Service, and the Celebration of Life for Kobe and Gianna Bryant, among others. Some of the world’s most famous musicians have also performed at the arena, including Beyonce, U2, Adele, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, and Eric Clapton, to name a few.

The Crypto.com Arena capacity is around 18,000 seats for ice hockey games, 19,000 for basketball games, and more than 20,000 for concerts. The 950,000-square-foot facility also features 15 event suites and 160 luxury suites. When it comes to dining, guests have a lot of options to choose from. The arena has 23 refreshment stands offering different kinds of food options. Members of the venue’s Premium VIP program can also dine at eight exclusive restaurants on Suite Level A and Suite Level B.

Sports Betting at Crypto.com Arena

Sports betting is currently illegal in California. And, thanks to Prop 26 and Prop 27 failing in landslides in the 2022 election, sportsbooks won’t launch until 2025 at the earliest — and that’s only if voters pass a sports betting measure on the 2024 ballot.

Crypto.com Arena LA Partnerships

Apart from its partnerships with the NBA, WNBA, and NHL teams mentioned above, Crypto.com Arena has no affiliations with other sports franchises. It did have some other notable tenants in the past, though. It hosted the Los Angeles Avengers of the AFL from 2000-09 and the Los Angeles D-Fenders from 2006-11.

Crypto.com Arena parking features ten parking lots with more than 3,300 parking spaces. There are six standard and two accessible parking lots and two parking lots with EV charging stations. 

If you’re wondering, “Where can I park at Crypto.com Arena if its parking lot is full?”, there are additional options available. Privately operated parking lots within walking distance from the arena offer another 10,000 parking spaces at affordable prices.

The price of parking at the Crypto.com Arena parking lots is $10 for two hours and up to $28 or $30 maximum per day, depending on the parking lot. Booking in advance will help you secure a spot on game day. You can do this at the arena’s Box Office or the AXS.com website.

Crypto.com Arena Accommodations in Los Angeles

Regarding accommodation, you’ll find plenty of options near Crypto.com Arena. The closest ones, located in the adjoining LA Live entertainment complex’s central building, are JW Marriot Hotel (which takes up floors 3 to 21) and Ritz-Carlton (which takes up floors 22 to 26).

Crypto.com Arena Online Sportsbook

California hasn’t legalized online sports betting yet. However, even if legal sports betting apps in California become a reality, Crypto.com is unlikely to operate one. Instead, guests would simply use the online sportsbook of their choice on their mobile device at the arena.
