FanDuel DFS Week 3 Lineup

QB: Kirk Cousins ($7,600) vs. Detroit Lions

Cousins won’t be a popular play this week, especially following Monday’s uninspired performance, but that’s often a great time to call upon a player. Cousins eclipsed 25.0 FanDuel points in a quarter of his 2021 contests, and while the offensive scheme is different — presumably better — he has seasons of chemistry with his high-caliber weapons.

RB: David Montgomery ($7,100) vs. Houston Texans

Decent volume has been in the cards for Montgomery over the first two weeks. If he combines another 20-plus touches, Montgomery could yield another double-digit FD-scoring performance, perhaps even eclipse 20 FD points with a touchdown against the Texans’ poor run defense.

RB: Dameon Pierce ($5,800) at Chicago Bears

Pierce’s snap count and snap percentage increased sharply in Week 2, leading to an increase in touches as well. As Pierce takes larger control of the Texans’ backfield, he’ll have opportunities to deliver profitable performances. You’re keeping your fingers crossed for a touchdown, especially if he continues to be lightly used in the passing game, but it’s difficult to beat his combination of expected volume and price.

CA SPORTS BETTING: Prop 27 Campaign Shifting Strategy 7 Weeks Before Election

WR: Justin Jefferson ($9,500) vs. Detroit Lions

We’re stacking Cousins with his top wide receiver. Jefferson is coming off a disappointing six-catch, 48-yard Week 2, but he still drew 12 looks. He’ll continue to serve as Cousins’ top target. Sunday’s Vikings-Lions game has shootout potential, and Jefferson will play a central role in the offensive fireworks.

WR: A.J. Brown ($8,000) at Washington Commanders

Brown “only” received eight targets on Monday night, but that still accounted for a 25.8% target share, and he’s drawing a 35% slice of the pie through two games. Volume will continue to be a constant for Brown, and combined with his electrifying ability after the catch, more monster performances are in the cards.

WR: Michael Pittman Jr. ($7,400) vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Colts were a mess offensively in a Week 2 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Pittman missed the contest, but he’s scheduled to return to practice this week, and barring a setback, he’ll resume his No. 1 receiver role. Ashton Dulin and Dezmon Patmon accounted for 44.8% of Matt Ryan’s 29 targets, so Pittman, theoretically, will return to a busy role in Week 3.

BETTER LUCK LATER: Are Prop 26 and Prop 27 Destined to Fail?

TE: Kyle Pitts ($5,800) at Seattle Seahawks

It’s been a disappointing start for Pitts, but we’re willing to remain patient and bet on the profile. It’s entirely possible that the Falcons’ first two opponents (Saints, Rams) are well-equipped at limiting tight ends. There’s just too much explosive upside on a weekly basis to look elsewhere, particularly considering his declining price tag.

FLEX: Cam Akers ($5,800) at Arizona Cardinals

Akers didn’t produce much of a bottom line in Week 2, but he saw 18 opportunities (carries plus targets). The volume is attractive, as is the price, and we’re going to insert him into our lineup again this week. If Akers’ efficiency improves this week, he will be well worth the gamble.

DEF: Jacksonville Jaguars ($3,200) at Los Angeles Chargers

We’re not going to pretend like we love the Jaguars, but they hit Matt Ryan nine times in Week 2, and they’ve been adept at harassing quarterbacks through two weeks. We’re also betting against the Chargers. Quarterback Justin Herbert’s rib injury will either force him to play compromised or keep him out of action altogether.
